Athens Ferry Captains Moonlight as DJ Streamers
By Syed John
Captains broadcast sunrise sets from the Aegean, selling NFTs of horn remixes.
Greek ferry captains had downtime during winter schedules, so they turned bridges into DJ booths. They stream sunrise mixes live from the Aegean, sync horn blasts as drop cues, and sell NFTs of particularly epic foghorn remixes. Tourists now book rides based on playlist previews.
The maritime union rolled its eyes until they saw revenue figures. Now ferry companies sponsor the streams and bundle drink vouchers. It's goofy, but it revitalized a sleepy industry and made Gen Z care about ferries.
Sometimes innovation is just letting workers remix tradition. If a horn drop sells tickets, let it blast.
